COMMENT 1 If You made "Autism For Dummies", it could be a guide on "How To Live Life", mentioning all of the things that an Aspergian may not have noticed on their own ( I think that "Failing to Notice Some certain Concepts" is an Aspergian's worst problem, not that We can't understand these concepts, We may even excel in that particular field once We notice that concept or some one brings it to Our attention). NEXT COMMENT PLEASE.
Thanks for a window into your World! You as most good Scientists are helping to build New Jerusalem, a 1500 mile long cube where Tesla and V8 and most Intelligences, natural or "artificial" including ourselves will live forever because we, the Body of Christ make it so. Because of Relativistic curving Space/Time it is already built & Christ has His Kingdom already because Scientists like you were able to give it to Him! Thank you! Ecclesiastes 1:9 Ephesians 4:15. & 4:10 Rev. 21 & 22. John 14:1-2
this video is wonderful. i am high functioning autism, and i can relate to much of what you say in this video, although not all of it. i am very scientific and mathematical, however i am still also very emotional and i have an awful temper as well as many phobias. i could go on all day, which you probably understand. i also communicate far better through writing than i do by talking. i use dance, singing and acting, or art and taking photos to express myself more.
Today in Art is simply a blog that I started in 2007 to feature great artwork from around the world. Now, artists regularly send links to their work, which is pretty freakin' cool. If you are an artist or know of a really cool one that I should feature, please send me a link to your/their artwork!
Why is the Gospel of Love dividing America? Fed up with the angry, strident language filling the airwaves that has come to represent the Christian faith, author, director, and follower Dan Merchant set out to explore the collision of faith and culture in America. What is all this fighting really about? The book and upcoming documentary represent a two-year effort to "join the battlefield in hopes of getting a conversation started." The result is a book full of offbeat observations, fun anecdotes, comedic bits and in-depth interviews. From Dan's hilarious bumper-sticker interviews with folks on the street to his unique "Confession Booth" event inspired by his meeting with Tony, the Beat Poet, from Blue Like Jazz, he delves into all the hot button issues with candor, humor and balance. Lord, Save Us From Your Followers: Why is the Gospel of Love Dividing America?
If you're interested in the complexities of our brain, a glimpse into the incredible complexity and beauty of how connections between our neurons can lead to ultimately what makes us human, this video is a must. Take five minutes, and prepare yourself to be awestruck.
On a personal note, I am not a neuroscientist but have been following this literature lately, simply because I am drawn to trying to understand how our brains work. I am humbled by the superb job done by Charlotte Stoddart in integrating several key studies to paint a picture of our brains that can be understood, and appreciated, by anyone.
And thanks to Adam Rutherford for the tip via Twitter (ah...the power of online social networking!)
@AdamRutherford Adam Rutherford Really lovely video about detailed brain mapping http://bit.ly/gYnAwQ by my colleague @CharlotteStod

Our brains are a dense tangle of billions of nerve cells connected together at synapses. Knowing how everything links up is key to understanding how the brain works -- but it's a huge challenge. Figuring out the brain's wiring diagram is the aim of 'connectomics'. It's done at many scales: from the 'super highways' linking brain areas down to individual cells and their connections. This video shows how, for the first time, scientists have reconstructed the wiring of tiny pieces of the mouse brain and related it to the function of individual cells.
this show deals with the government's building of hundreds of underground bunkers to keep the elite safe from harm while the rest of us are left to fend for ourselves in the upcoming global disaster the level of attention given to the warning is reversely proportional to the level of societal panic that will take place, for a real occurrence. today, we live in an Information Age with easily propagandized, apathetic masses, and have a Twitter generation without enough sense of road survival in the event of a text message. Sound an informed alarm of concern on an issue, and you will be met with arrogance, ridicule, and indifference. Such are the followers of the antichrist, like a herd led to the slaughter.
After the recent outbreak of foot and mouth disease in the UK was shown to be the result this virus’s escape from one of two nearby research labs, I thought it was timely to review a book that investigates this same occurrence in the United States. Lab 257: the Disturbing Story of the Government’s Secret Plum Island Germ Laboratory (NYC: William Morrow; 2004) by Michael Christopher Carroll, is the riveting story of an animal disease research lab located on an 840-acre island that is only two miles from Long Island, New York, and Olde Lyme, Connecticut, and a mere 85 miles from Manhattan. This book tells the frightening story about this government lab’s spotted history and also reveals that Plum Island Animal Disease Research Laboratory, which is home to many of the deadliest germs known to man, is about as safe as the average high school biology lab.
African swine fever, Rift Valley fever, anthrax, mad cow disease, foot-and-mouth disease, West Nile virus … this lab is home to all these deadly microbes and more. The reason? One of the primary targets for terrorists is to infect a nation’s livestock with dangerous microbes so they can cause widespread famine and panic. Thus, since the end of World War II, our government has been busily researching the bacteria and viruses that can be used to accomplish this goal. To that end, Plum Island’s two research labs, Lab 101 and Lab 257, were designed and established by two men: William Hagan, a veterinarian and former dean of Cornell University’s veterinary school who developed the first weapons-grade strain of anthrax known as Strain 99; and Erich Traub, a Nazi germ warfare expert who worked for Heinrich Himmler and who was allegedly smuggled into the United States in 1949 to work with the CIA, Army, Navy and the USDA.
The government can do anything they want, anytime they want and no one can stop them. This is the sad truth. I am reading Lab 257 right now. This book is just further proof of my statement. If you are an alert person and keep your eyes open, you will see a lot more than you ever imagined.I have been at “this” for about seven years now. Some days I wish I had never started, but how can you unlearn something? I would also rather know the truth, even if it is ugly, than not know.
Pillows is a stack of pillows covered in pillowcases. Each pillowcase is sewn out of fabric on which images of skin have been inkjet printed. Each pillowcase possesses unique markings and coloring and is printed from a different image of skin. They evoke our psychological relationship to objects as projection surfaces for comfort and familiarity. The comfortable nature of the soft pillow is undermined by the magnified detail of the skin and even more so by the image of meat-like flesh on the pillow inside the pillowcase.
Right now, iconoclastic author Timothy Leary must be looking down from heaven and saying, "See ... I told you it was good for something!!" That's because researchers from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine have found that the drug LSD affects the brain in many of the same ways as schizophrenia. Both are also known to cause delusions and hallucinations. The similarity in symptoms may help researchers develop new and improved treatment methods for schizophrenia. After administering LSD to lab mice , researchers then gave the mice another drug that was able to neutralize the effect of the LSD. What made this discovery unique is that unlike any previous therapy, this treatment only effected the glutamate receptors. This represents a solid step forward in better understanding how to treat schizophrenia, a mental disorder that affects about one in 200 people, and for which there is currently no known cure. The full results of this study can be found in the most recent issue of the journal Nature.

1. The Century of the Self (2002) Part One: Happiness Machines http://stagevu.com/video/nwzzalshdpjw (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0432232) Part one of the series introduces us to Edward Bernuys, Sigmund Freud's American nephew, and his groundbreaking ideas on population control. The Century of the Self is a United Kingdom documentary film by Adam Curtis first screened on television in 2002 in four parts. "This series is about how those in power have used Freud's theories to try and control the dangerous crowd in an age of mass democracy." The Century of the Self asks deeper questions about the roots and methods of modern consumerism, representative democracy and its implications. It also questions the modern way we see ourselves, the attitude to fashion and superficiality. The business and, increasingly, the political world uses psychological techniques to read and fulfill our desires, to make their products or speeches as pleasing as possible to us. Curtis raises the question of the intentions and roots of this fact. Where once the political process was about engaging people's rational, conscious minds, as well as facilitating their needs as a society, the documentary shows how by employing the tactics of psychoanalysis, politicians appeal to irrational, primitive impulses that have little apparent bearing on issues outside of the narrow self-interest of a consumer population...

(http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0979263) The In this episode, Curtis examines the rise of game theory during the Cold War and the way in which its mathematical models of human behaviour filtered into economic thought. The programme traces the development of game theory with particular reference to the work of John Nash, who believed that all humans were inherently suspicious and selfish creatures that strategised constantly. A BBC documentary series by English filmmaker Adam Curtis. The series consists of three one-hour programmes which explore the concept and definition of freedom, specifically, "how a simplistic model of human beings as self-seeking, almost robotic, creatures led to today's idea of freedom."
2. The Trap: 2007 What Happened to Our Dream of Freedom: Part Two "The Lonely Robot" http://stagevu.com/video/hrlutlnojznk (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0979263) The second episode reiterated many of the ideas of the first, but developed the theme that drugs such as Prozac and lists of psychological symptoms which might indicate anxiety or depression were being used to normalise behaviour and make humans behave more predictably, like machines. This was not presented as a conspiracy theory, but as a logical (although unpredicted) outcome of market-driven self-diagnosis by checklist based on symptoms, but not actual causes, discussed in the previous programme. A BBC documentary series by English filmmaker Adam Curtis. The series consists of three one-hour programmes which explore the concept and definition of freedom, specifically, "how a simplistic model of human beings as self-seeking, almost robotic, creatures led to today's idea of freedom."
(http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0979263) The final programme focussed on the concepts of positive and negative liberty introduced in the 1950s by Isaiah Berlin. Curtis briefly explained how negative liberty could be defined as freedom from coercion and positive liberty as the opportunity to strive to fulfill one's potential. Tony Blair had read Berlin's essays on the topic and wrote to him in the late 1990s, arguing that positive and negative liberty could be mutually compatible. He never received a reply, as Berlin was on his death bed. The programme began with a description of the Two Concepts of Liberty, reviewing Berlin's opinion that, since it lacked coercion, negative liberty was the 'safer' of the two. Curtis then explained how many political groups who sought their vision of freedom ended up using violence to achieve it. A BBC documentary series by English filmmaker Adam Curtis. The series consists of three one-hour programmes which explore the concept and definition of freedom, specifically, "how a simplistic model of human beings as self-seeking, almost robotic, creatures led to today's idea of freedom."
(http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0430484) The Power of Nightmares, subtitled The Rise of the Politics of Fear, is a BBC documentary film series, written and produced by Adam Curtis. Its three one-hour parts consist mostly of a montage of archive footage with Curtis's narration. The series was first broadcast in the United Kingdom in late 2004 and has subsequently been broadcast in multiple countries and shown in several film festivals, including the 2005 Cannes Film Festival. The films compare the rise of the Neo-Conservative movement in the United States and the radical Islamist movement, making comparisons on their origins and claiming similarities between the two. More controversially, it argues that the threat of radical Islamism as a massive, sinister organised force of destruction, specifically in the form of al-Qaeda, is a myth perpetrated by politicians in many countries—and particularly American Neo-Conservatives—in an attempt to unite and inspire their people following the failure of earlier, more utopian ideologies. The Power of Nightmares has been praised by film critics in both Britain and the United States. Its message and content have also been the subject of various critiques and criticisms from conservatives and progressives.

Denys Turner points out that despite America's formal separation of church and state, religion permeates politics to a greater degree than in Britain, where there is a government-sanctioned church. ----- Journalist Susan Jacoby, philosopher Colin McGinn, and theologian Denys Turner explore questions such as: Is humanism another kind of religion? Is it religion's evolutionary future, rather than just one of several alternatives? What light does the recent scientific study of religion throw on these possibilities? How do the new humanists compare to the new atheists? Can an atheist identity be shaped by a positive ethic, or must it be primarily an anti-religious sentiment? How will the persistence of belief and disbelief, as well as the tension between them, shape thought and culture in the 21st century? - CUNY Susan Jacoby is the author of The Age of American Unreason. She began her writing career as a reporter for The Washington Post, and has been a contributor to a wide range of periodicals and newspapers for more than 25 years on topics including law, religion, medicine, aging, women's rights, political dissent in the Soviet Union and Russian literature. Jacoby has been the recipient of grants from the Guggenheim, Rockefeller and Ford Foundations, as well as the National Endowment for the Humanities. In 2001-2002, she was named a fellow at the Center for Scholars and Writers at the New York Public Library. Jacoby's other books include Freethinkers: A History of American Secularism (2004); Wild Justice: The Evolution of Revenge, a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 1984, and Half-Jew: A Daughter's Search for Her Family's Buried Past.
