 turbines are the future of wind mill technology. A helical twisted VAWT.

This Helix turbine uses the wind to spin the . The helical turbine designed in contrast to the more common bladed design is claimed to be
a more efficient form of developing wind energy for domestic users. And you need to know the efficiency of the generator to be used.

Probably the Giromill subtype of the Darrieus vertical axis wind turbine. The models discussed in the green sheets use a helical wind turbine.
 It may not even be possible to run an entire school with the winds in that area. Studies also show that the VAWT are quieter running and
begin producing power . They are specifically designed to address the unique problems associated with producing electricity in urban or
 suburban .

The Helix Wind Savonious 2.0 is a 2kW rated turbine that can be tower-mounted between 14 and 35 feet or roof mounted just 2 feet above
 roof line. The rotor measures 6ft by 4ft (1.8m by 1.2m) and utilizes long helical blade scoops to maximize energy performance in turbulent,
 gusty or multi-directional wind conditions.

The capabilities of the rotor to spin in any wind make it ideal for urban settings. The combination of lower height and quieter action make Helix’s
turbine more neighbor and zoning commission friendly. As far as noise, the Helix Savonious 2.0 operates at less than 5 decibels above background
noise.

And there’s good news for the bird lover in all of us – the Helix is safer for wildlife. The rotor spins at much slower speeds than horizontal turbines

rotor doesn’t fatally confuse our feathered friends is a big plus.

At present, the Helix Savonious 2.0 is undergoing evaluation for UL and cUL listings to make it eligible for rebates under all state Renewable
Energy Programs. The base price for the Helix Savonious 2.0 is $6,500 before tower and installation. A low wind version starts at $8,500 and

One of my favorite quotes by
 Tibor Kalman.

“We live in a society and a culture and an economic model that tries to make everything look right. Look at computers. Why are they
 all putty-colored or off-f******-white? You make something off-white or beige because you are afraid to use any other color - because
 you don’t want to offend anybody. But by definition, when you make something no one hates, no one loves it. So I am interested in
 imperfections, quirkiness, insanity, unpredictability. That’s what we really pay attention to anyway. We don’t talk about planes flying;
 we talk about them crashing”.

Tibor Kalman was not afraid to make bold statements and to speak his mind through words or designs. I really like how risky he was
 with some of his designs to get his point across.

Tibor was well known for his work as Editor in Chief of Colors Magazine.

Moved to the US to escape the Soviet invasion and attended New York University and dropped out of school after one year
and started working at a small bookstore that would later become known as Barnes & Noble. He became the supervisor in
their in-house design department.

Tibor started a design firm named M&Co with his wife Maira Kalman, which did work for clients like Limited Corporation, the
New Wave music group Talking Heads and Restaurant Florent.

He also was a creative director of Interview magazine in the early 1990’s.

In 1993 Tibor closed M&Co to move to Rome to work with Colors magazine, a magazine that focused on multiculturalism and global
 awareness. They did this through bold graphic Design, typography and photos and doctored images. Even a series in which high
recognizable figures as the Pope and Queen Elizabeth were depicted as racial minorities. Kalman remained the main creative force
behind Colors, until the onset of non-Hodgkins lymphoma forced him to leave in 1995, and return to New York. Tibor thinking about
Colors Magazine was this: “Let’s face it: we live at a time when government is less and less powerful, less and less effective, and
 the agent of social change, at least for the immediate future, is the corporation. So people are going to have to figure out ways to
 co-opt corporations, to trick them into doing socially responsible things. Colors was a very good example of that. You could look at
 it as a progressive educator, making people think in new ways about race. Or, if you looked at it as a Benetton stockholder, you
might say, “This is a really great way to reach the kids.”

In 1997 he reopened M&Co and continued to work until his did in 1999. He had a design work named, Tiborocity, it opened its US
 Tour at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. A book was published about him and M&Co’s work entitled, Tibor Kalman: Perverse
 Optimist, published by Princeton Architectural Press in 1999.

Some people who worked at M&Co were Stefan Sagmeister, Stephen Doyle, Alexander Isley, Scott Stowell, and Emily Oberman,
 they all went on to start their own design studios in NYC.

supposedly more powerful god. And so, through a combination of the conquistadors' swords, guns, and disease, and the myth of Christianity,
the peoples of the Americas were enslaved in both literal and mental chains.

Catholic priest Bartolome de las Casas, in the multi-volume “History of the Indies” published in 1875, wrote, “…
 Slaves were the primary source of income for the Admiral (Columbus) with that income he intended to repay
the money the Kings were spending in support of Spaniards on the Island. They provide profit and income
to the Kings. (The Spaniards were driven by) insatiable greed … killing, terrorizing, afflicting, and torturing
the native peoples … with the strangest and most varied new methods of cruelty.”

This systematic violence was aimed at preventing “Indians from daring to think of themselves as human beings.
(The Spaniards) thought nothing of knifing Indians by tens and twenties and of cutting slices off them to test the
 sharpness of their blades…. My eyes have seen these acts so foreign to human nature, and now I tremble as
I write.”

Father Fray Antonio de Montesino, a Dominican preacher, in December 1511 said this in a sermon that implicated
 Christopher Columbus and the colonists in the genocide of the native peoples:

“Tell me by what right of justice do you hold these Indians in such a cruel and horrible servitude? On what
 authority have you waged such detestable wars against these people who dealt quietly and peacefully on
 their own lands? Wars in which you have destroyed such an infinite number of them by homicides and
 slaughters never heard of before …”

In 1892, the National Council of Churches, the largest ecumenical body in the United States, is known to
have exhorted Christians to refrain from celebrating the Columbus quincentennial, saying, “What represented
newness of freedom, hope, and opportunity for some was the occasion for oppression, degradation and
genocide for others.”

Yet America continues to celebrate “Columbus Day.” [continued...]

due largely to the high cost of cell production. Hence, a worldwide search is on for new types of solar

Even the United States of America is not immune to the rules of nature and commerce that
govern other nations. Over the last few decades, our country has made some very foolish
economic choices. It seems as if we have come to believe that the rest of the world is
going to finance our government spending in perpetuity, even as it becomes clear that
we have no intention of getting spending under control or paying back our debt. Because
the wheels of history turn very slowly, we've gotten away with this for a long time, but
as the baby boomers are starting to hit retirement age, the time to pay the piper is
drawing nigh. In the next decade or two, we're likely to face a financial crisis more dire
than any this nation has ever seen.

What is that going to mean in real terms? It means that barring an unforeseen miracle, our
out-of-control spending is going to lead to some very painful decisions that will make a
lot of people, including conservatives, very unhappy. What you're about to read are the
ugly truths about what our behavior today means for our country's future.

1) Entitlements must be cut. By 2030, the Congressional Budget Office is estimating that
Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid will make up 75% of our budget spending. In other
words, unless we get a handle on entitlement spending, it will be impossible to get our
deficits under control. That means the age eligibility for these programs must be raised
and the amount spent per person will need to be dropped to try to close the gap between
what we take in and what we pay out. Given how explosive this issue is politically, it's
not going to be easy to accomplish. However, it's not realistic to believe that future
generations of Americans are going to be willing to live like indentured servants for
decades to support their own personal senior citizen who's lying around in a hammock
somewhere, enjoying a 25 year long retirement. The sooner we start making changes, the
easier it will be on everyone and the less shock there will be to the system when the
inevitable changes start to take place.

2) Our military is going to weaken. By historical standards, the United States is not
spending an extraordinary percentage of our budget on defense. However, we are spending
an extraordinary amount of money on defense for a nation that's flat broke. Is this
sustainable? Is China going to keep loaning us the money we need to keep our military
going when it's the only thing standing between them and Taiwan? Are Americans going to
keep spending billions to defend foreign countries that are ungrateful for our help
when we don't have enough money at home? The answer to that question is, "No, we're not."
That's a shame -- because the United States military is doing more to promote world
stability than any other 20 nations combined, but we simply can't afford to keep it up.
We'll be forced to cross our fingers, cut back on military spending, and hope that the
world doesn't completely fall to pieces when the sheriff hangs up his guns.

3) Taxes are going up. Ronald Reagan was right when he said that, "The problem is not
that people are taxed too little; the problem is that government spends too much."
Unfortunately, we've allowed our government to spend so far beyond its means for so
long that it's going to be almost impossible to close the gap by merely cutting spending.
Taxes must go up on the rich, the middle-class, and, yes, even the poor. The whole
idea that more than 40% of the population can avoid paying any income taxes at all
when we're running trillion dollar deficits is sheer madness. Everybody is going to
 end up having to pay more -- and sickeningly, it won't even be for more services;
it'll simply be to pay for what we've already spent.

4) Economic growth is going to stagnate. The bigger the government grows and the more
it borrows, the less virile the economy becomes. We've seen this in Western Europe
where policies -- of the sort the Obama Administration is now pursuing -- have led
to the kind of perpetual sluggish growth and jobless rates we associate with economic
downturns in this country. As the Congressional Budget Office has said:

Large budget deficits would reduce national saving, leading to more borrowing
from abroad and less domestic investment, which in turn would depress economic growth
in the United States. Over time, accumulating debt would cause substantial harm to
the economy.

Less growth means less jobs, less prosperity, and handing future generations of
Americans a country that doesn't hold as much promise as the one that we grew up in.

5) We will have a world where the United States isn't a super power. As the growth
of the US economy slows, our military declines, and we become ever more dependent
on the foreign powers that hold our debt, the United States will cease to become a
super power. We won't have the cashflow to engage in another Marshall Plan, the
manufacturing capacity to gear up as we did in World War II, or the dominant military
needed to score decisive victories over our opponents. Certainly, the United States
won't become completely insignificant, but Reagan's description of our nation as a
"shining city" above the rest of humanity will no longer be true. Instead of being a
colossus striding the globe -- we'll be like Russia, China, France, Britain, or
Germany -- just one of many.

Are these events that "will be" or "may be?" If we depart from the course our nation
is on, will "the ends" change for our nation or are we too far gone down the road
to serfdom? Sadly, we've run so aggressively towards a socialist oblivion that our
country may be on the backside of the mountain and unable to climb back to the top.
Time will tell, but after all the privileges we've had growing up as Americans in
this great nation, we have a solemn duty to bear whatever we must as a country to
pass on the promise, the potential, and the dream of America to future generations.

 banking intern who ran off to party in a fairy costume (he told his boss there was
a family emergency, but got outed via Facebook!), Radar hates on Millennials, those
 born between 1982 and 2002. It isn't fair: the Boomers always hated the slacker,
Dazed and Confused-watching Gen Xers, and are retaliating by coddling Millennials
at work, falling all over themselves, wanting to help their younger colleagues who
"roll into work with their iPods and flip-flops around noon." These brats "think
updating a spreadsheet while simultaneously posting to a Twitter account about the
latest gossip on perezhilton.com is an essential corporate skill." They bring up 9-11
 "should you question their fortitude." But their most egregious sin?

    Today, when a hip band allows Outback Steakhouse to co-opt one of their most beloved
 songs, Millennials don't call it selling out. It's a cogent business decision. To
 Millennials, it's perfectly acceptable to transform the lyric "Let's pretend we don't
 exist / Let's pretend we're in Antarctica" into the jingle "Let's go Outback tonight /
 Life will still be there tomorrow." (Et tu, Of Montreal.)

I personally feel the below commercial is unforgivable, but perhaps it's because I was
 born in 1981 instead of 1982—I'll never understand the value of a corporate dollar.
