Charles, Sweeeet designs on the surfboards...yes indeed!
It was good to talk with you...
Here's a blurb from me that you had asked for: as well as my hey you productions site link at the end of this letter.
As a child I spent most days at the beach. As a teenager and beyond I was at the beach as often as possible.
To this day I have a strong affinity and lots of respect for the ocean on many levels. I live in the mountains now and it's a rare treat for me when I'm able to get to the ocean.
When I was about ten years old I made one of the first skim boards on the east coast and I still have it to this day.... pics attached I've surfed all seasons from Maine to Rhode Island and from Malibu to Mission Beach in sunny California...including a day at the Camp Pendleton Marine base...Glassy five footers and lots of kelp...I hung out with Ted Adegawa (the owner of one of the two surf shops in Japan) a few times while I was in Japan in 1972 he showed me some beautiful surf spots but I never got to surf there. At one place we walked a path thru a wooded area and then thru a cave that came out above a beach surrounded by cliffs. Another cliff came out by the sea.... photos attached.
The last wave I shared with the ocean was in Hampton Beach N.H. circa 1989. ( I'll have to give that date some more thought) It was a sweet ride on an eight footer that broke to the right and held up for well over one hundred yards.
I was able to do lots of maneuvers on its face and rode it up and past the lip & dropped back in a few times. I even got in a tube. I also like to ride the face and draw designs in the water with my hand as I travel along the wave.
When I came out of the water and headed back to my car I was received by a round of applause from the folks on the wall for that ride...That was kind of qool. :) I was on my blue Plastic Fantastic surfboard that I purchased at a surf shop in Huntington Beach in sunny California in 1971.
There is no better feeling on this mostly blue planet than being out on the blue ocean on your favorite surf board and dropping in to ride the wet energy...anyone who surfs should agree with this and anyone who hasn't surfed should give it a try. S. Stein www.heyyouproductions.com
